Jacob, Ph.D., ABPP is a licensed psychologist and Clinical Director/Owner of the Jacob Center for Evidence-Based Treatment, where she specializes in the treatment of youth and adults with OCD, Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and Phobias. Dr. Jacob is a strong proponent of evidence-based treatment and academic research. She provides Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including use of Exposure Therapy, Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), and and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) in the treatment of her patients. Dr. Jacob is also trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), which is a parent-based program for children and adolescents with OCD, anxiety, and related problems. Dr. Jacob has published over 45 scientific journal articles, written several book chapters, and engaged in numerous presentations on OCD, Anxiety, and Related Disorders. She has also served as a reviewer for a variety of psychology and psychiatry journals. Dr. Jacob is Board Certified in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), which means that she has undergone the highest level of examination by her peers, and demonstrated excellence in her specialization. Dr. Jacob is actively involved in the Psychology community. She currently serves as President of OCD Central & South Florida (2019-present), which is a non-profit organization that raises awareness about OCD and related disorders by putting on events and disseminating resources all throughout the state of Florida. She also serves as a faculty member for the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) for Pediatric OCD, which is IOCDF's flagship training program for professionals to advance their skills in the treatment of OCD. Dr. Jacob also runs Online Consultation Groups through the IOCDF for mental health professionals to advance their skills in the assessment and treatment of Pediatric OCD. Dr. Jacob served as President of the Palm Chapter of the Florida Psychological Association (2018-2019), and currently serves on the regional board as Public Relations Chair. Additionally, Dr. Jacob is on the Advisory Board for the Florida CBT Association. Prior to establishing a private practice in Boca Raton, FL, Dr. Jacob completed her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Florida. After college, she worked as a clinical research assistant in the UF OCD Program and Department of Psychiatry, where she conducted treatment-based psychiatric assessments for children and adults with OCD or related disorders. She went on to receive her M.S. and Ph.D. from the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Georgia, where she specialized in working with youth and adults with anxiety disorders. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral clinical internship at the University of Florida Health Science Center, Child/Pediatric Track, where she again worked with children and adults in the UF OCD Program, primarily conducting weekly and intensive treatment for OCD and related disorders. Upon graduating with her Ph.D., Dr. Jacob completed a 3-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Rothman Center for Neuropsychiatry, in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida, which specializes in the research and treatment of OCD, Anxiety, and Related Disorders. At the Rothman Center, Dr. Jacob provided weekly and intensive treatment for a variety of youth and adults with OCD, Anxiety, and Related Disorders. In 2013, Dr. Jacob received a prestigious award from the National Institute of Health (NIH) for her work in pediatric research.
